Streaming killed the end credits
End credits are not a formality. For a large number of people who work on a film, the crawl is the only public, permanent record that they did. Guild agreements specify what must appear there, in what order, at what size.
Then the platform shrinks it into a corner at forty percent size while the next thing starts playing.
The argument for autoplay is retention, and it works. The cost is borne entirely by people whose names were the point of the sequence being minimised.
